TK and Susan's First Nudist experience

I'm still not clear on exactly how the conversation started. It probably had something to do with Susan's involvement in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) in Pennsylvania. Apparently, at some SCA events, there's a clothing-optional swimming hole where those who are not ashamed of their bodies disrobe, and enjoy swimming without restrictive clothing. I was a little intruiged at the fact that Susan had participated in this when she had lived in Pittsburgh.

Nevertheless, Susan and I were talking about social nudity. Having stopped by Paradise Lakes at one time to see a friend who was working there, I suppose you could say I knew "a little something" about the subject. I later found out that I knew absolutely nothing about it, and was in for a nice surprise.

Since Susan and I were living in Tampa, Florida at the time, a trip to Paradise Lakes was certainly not out of the question. I don't remember who suggested it at the time, but I was not opposed to going to a nudist park to see what it was all about. Remembering my friend Bob mention that he was a nudist at one time, I phoned him to ask what I should take with me. We talked for a few minutes, and he persuaded me to visit the same place that he and his wife went years ago, Lake Como Club. The subject rest for several weeks without anyone saying anything about it.

One extremely hot Saturday, after having spent most of it selling goods at a friend's yard sale, I suggested to Susan that we go check out Lake Como. We proceeded to drive home and get cleaned up. I called Lake Como Club, and let them know of our arrival. Feeling a little strange about the idea, Susan and I loaded up her 11-year old daughter and proceeded to drive up the road to Lake Como.

Susan's daughter was quite uncomfortable with the whole idea. After having talked with Bob, we were able to assure her that nobody was going to make her take her clothes off. She felt a little better about it, and calmed down.

Lake Como's entrance road is about 1/4 mile long with a speed limit of 5MPH. This gave me quite a while to think "What the hell am I doing here?" and "I can't believe I'm doing this." Yet, I was the one who suggested it earlier that day so I was going through with it regardless. Nevertheless, the butterflies in my stomach were building as I drove closer to the office.

We rounded the final bend, and parked. We walked into the office, and to my amazement, the lady behind the counter (who we came to know as Tammy) was topless. I knew that I was on the grounds of a nudist resort, but it didn't REALLY register until I was standing before a topless woman with a bright smile on her face. I can't say that this made me uncomfortable, however, I was certainly caught off-guard.

Tammy was pretty with long black hair. She greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm for the prospect of new members to the club. She took our identification, had us fill out multitudes of paperwork, and then explained the club's policies. After having gotten completely used to Tammy's toplessness, she offered us a tour of the grounds. We accepted.

Trish was our tour-guide. We walked from the office to the rec-hall, where a couple was playing billiards. Nothing strange about this. We then walked from the rec-hall toward the Butt-Hutt (Lake Como's lakeside bar). Again, to my surprise, there were completely naked people playing volleyball. I thought "That must hurt sometimes.", and laughed to myself. We were introduced to the Butt-Hutt, and then taken to the pool where there were at least 50 naked people sunning themselves and swimming. I was no longer being caught off-guard. Things seemed purely normal.

Standing there looking at quite a number of naked women, I realized to my amazement that this sight did not seem sexual at all. Intruiging, Yes, but not sexual. These people were having alot of fun in the sun. It was quite enlightening.

Trish offered us a free-pass for the rest of the day. Susan and I looked at each other, and said "Absolutely!". We walked from the office to the car, and proceeded to strip down to absolutely nothing in the parking-lot; A sight to behold. We put on our brightest smiles and proceeded toward the pool.

That day, I played ping-pong, nude water sports, and enjoyed myself to the fullest. Susan was quite content to lay by the pool and sun herself while reading a book. One of Lake Como's rules was that you could not swim in the pool with clothes on. Susan's 11-year old didn't care for this rule much, but disrobed a few times to go swimming. We drank a little at the Butt-Hutt, and soon it was dark and time to leave. We bid farewell to some of our new-found friends, and proceeded home.

In reviewing the day in my mind, I realized that my fears of unwanted erection were totally unfounded. Not once had it even started to occur. I was pleased.

We had such a good time that day, that we returned the next day and spent much of Sunday doing the same things we had done the day before. The next weekend, we joined Lake Como Club and didn't miss a weekend there for 5 months. We've met some of our best friends there. Absolutely wonderful people. Even Susan's 11-year old became accustomed to taking her clothes off for longer periods of time. It wasn't but about two months of going there, where she would stay naked about 50% of the time.

Since our introduction to social nudity, we have introduced at least five of our friends to the lifestyle. It's more recreation rather than lifestyle to them, but that's okay. It was life pulling teeth to get some of them to agree to coming out with us. Each time, it was so enjoyable to each of them, that they said the would go back anytime.

We cannot stress more to people to try it before putting it down. We realized that there are so many misconceptions about nudism in general, hence our web-site to educate people.

Well, that's how it all started. We now live in the Washington DC area because of work, but there are some "Summer Clubs" up here. We would also like very much to get our own resort started at some point. We have no idea where this might take place, but it's a definite possibility.
